SUMMARY
The new spring barley cultivar Ðerdan was recognized by the Yugoslav Commission in the period of three years (1996-1998) on three localities. Yugoslav Federal Commission approved it as a new cultivar in 2000. According to Hordeum sativum var. nutans.
In the tests of the Commission, the new cultivar Ðerdan gave an average kernel yield 5.588 kg/ha and standard Novosadski 294 2.230 kg/ha, which means a higher yield of the new cultivar Ðerdan by 1.358 kg/ha, wat was significant different by Lsd 0,05 and Lsd 0,01.
In comparasion with standard cultivar Novosadski 294, the new cultivar Ðerdan had a lower protein content for 2,1% and malt extract for 2,3%.
New cultivar Ðerdan has been more resistant to diseases Puccinia graminis tritici and Erysiphe graminis hordei than standard cultivar Novosadski 294.
New cultivar Ðerdan is very early with a good resistance to lodging.
