SUMMARY
In this paper are obtained some characteristics of new winter sixrowed barley cultivar "Grand".
The "Grand" cultivar was created by cross breeding of parental cultivars Rodnik x KM-304. According to botanical classification cultivar "Grand" belongs to Hordeum sativum Jess. ssp. vulgare var. pallidum. The breeders are prof. dr Dragoljub Maksimovic and Dusan Urosevic dipl. ing. Cultivar vas created in Center for Small Grains, Kragujevac. Yugoslav Federal Commision approved it in 2002.
In Commision trials, the new cultivar gave an average kernel yield of 7 540 kg/haand standard cultivar Novosadski 313 6 776 kg/ha, which means a higher yield of new cultivar "Grand" by 764 kg/ha, what was statistically significant difference.
In three years of testing the new cultivar expressed higher yield by 9 016 kg/ha in microtrials in Novi Sad locality (Novi Sad, 1998/99).
The new cultivar had 1000 kernel weight 37,2 g and hectoliter mass of kernels 67,25 kg. The new cultivar has been earlier 4,9 days, and resistant to lodging for 1,7 mark then standard cultivar Novosadski 313.
The new cultivar has been more resistant to Puccinia graminis tritici 20%, to Puccinia hordei 40 % and Erysiphe graminis hordei 27,5 % then standard cultivar.
The new cultivar had a high protein content 15,4 %.
According to obtained results of testing we can conclude that new cultivar is very productive and quality winter six-rowed barley cultivar and has a chance to be high cultivated in primary agriculture production.
