SUMMARY
The determination of maize and soybean grain quality plays a significant role in its trade, i.e. purchasing and selling, then processing, and especially in the research performed with the aim to improve its utilisation. Grain quality of maize and soybean is differently interpreted and defined in the scientific literature. Which of these different modes of interpretation and defining is the best and the most relevant? The most recent concepts of the developed market imply the identification of the most important modes of grain utilisation, as well as, the requirements for each particular utilisation pertaining the most essential grain properties. Therefore, maize and soybean grain quality is different for various costumers, i.e. consumers. Based on the evaluation of the leading world known experts within the field of grain quality technological values and processing, if grain properties are accorded with requirements of its utilisation it is possible to increase values of maize and soybean.
Following the contemporary international research on field crops utilisation, the long term studies on grain quality and technological values of maize and soybean have been carried out at the Department of Technology. This paper presents the results obtained on studies of grain chemical composition and physical properties of the most widely grown ZP maize hybrids and soybean cultivars. Gained results show a broad variability of studied parameters, which provides exceptionally great and diverse possibilities of ZP maize hybrids and soybean cultivars utilisation in the industrial processing and practice.
